October in Seattle

We had a busy October up in Seattle.  Luke and his buddy Eli went to a football game (go pirates), Luke did his first 5k and we hit the farm for some pumpkins and fresh fall treats.  This year for Halloween Luke was Captain Rex from the Clone Wars, (from Star Wars). Very complicated and very exciting.  We went out with the neighborhood kids again and Luke had so much fun.  We really have a wonderful Halloween hood.  Lots of spirit, decor and of course candy!

May the FORCE be with you

Luke started playing soccer on his first organized team a couple weeks ago and I officially became a soccer mom.  Luke is loving it and practices his skills all the time in the backyard.  I am also enjoying my new soccer mom role, (but that is because it has been about 75 and sunny for the last month or so:)).

His team name is "The Force" which is perfectly fitting.  His team nickname is of course Luke Skywalker.

First Day of 1st Grade!

Luke returned to school a couple weeks ago and he is of course pumped about being back with all his buds and learning all sorts of new stuff.  So far his favorite activity has been painting a map of the world.  They are also having conversations about how Earth was created which has him really curious.  As well as black holes (he wants me to mention).

1st grade is pretty darn cool....and interesting!

CALIFORNIA

The Canton Horne clan had a seriously amazing summer in California.  We had tons of great family events, beautiful weather, great food and a couple big landmark accomplishments.

Luke learned to both swim and ride a bike.  Big Big stuff!!  Luke got to spend lots of time with his CA buds Noah and Bella as well as our amazing Frenchies!  Luke LOVED spending time with his cousins Pablo and Lea and of course the super stellar JC and GiGi!

Luke also got to have his Papaw and Mamaw from Florida visit him in Lodi.  It was truly special to have Ed and Pam stay out in Lodi with us and Luke just loved having them there.

We were also able to visit with Erica 3 times!!! We went to Ventura to see her and she come up to Lodi twice too!  We felt really lucky to have that time together.

Other exciting events include; Papa's big 80th, Bella's 4th bday, Lea's 17th bday, Lisa and Paul's wedding, Toni's big bachelorette, an amazing water balloon fight, Luke's first bow and arrow lesson from Uncle Ted,  a trip to Santa Cruz, Kasey's killer bday bbq in SF and so much more.

So many wonderful celebrations!  We were a little sad to return home to real life but of course thrilled to return to Guapo and the beautiful weather in Seattle.

BASEBALL!

Seattle has been having one of the warmest springs on record and we have been loving it!!  Luke is on the New Orleans Black Pelicans again this season but this year he is playing coach pitch.  He loves it of course and I have been thrilled about all the sunny saturday games.

Notice Luke in the team picture sporting a classic New Kids on the Block pose.  And in the picture below he is pretending to be a ball in the giant mitt at Safeco Field.  Luke has a few more weeks of his season and of school and we are both anxiously waiting for all the summer wonder to begin!

Snow Day!!!

We returned home from a family trip in Tahoe (land of no snow) to the biggest snow storm the Northwest has seen in years!

All three of our schools are canceled again (we are on day 3 of storm watch) and Luke couldn't be happier!

Yesterday we ventured out to one of our neighborhood parks that transforms itself into the perfect snow park. Sledding, hot cocoa on the bbq, snowy play equipment and of course snowball fights. Luke and Guapo were both in heaven!

Christmas!!

We had a magical holiday in the Northwest this year. Mamaw Pam came out for about a week and we got to experience all of the Seattle Holiday Spirit for a couple days before heading east.

We stayed in an adorable cabin about 15 minutes from Leavenworth for 3 nights. The town was as charming and festive as ever and we really enjoyed our rustic, river front digs. Santa brought Luke the one thing he had wanted all year, the Millennium Falcon, and he and Erica were both pumped to put it together. (The picture was taken at about 6:45AM...yikes...he had just woken up)

To top in all off we had a perfectly white Christmas!!
